Opportunity Cost- Sacrificing the Good for the Better

opportunity cost

How many times do we settle for good when we can have better? What is the price we pay for settling for something, instead of pursuing something better?

There is nothing wrong with living a good life, but there is also nothing wrong with living a great life.  What separates the two?
  • Thinking Big– We have the tendency to think too small, to underestimate our capabilities. Think of the biggest possible outcome, then think a little bigger.
  • Be willing to make lots of mistakes on your road to success– Mistakes are part of life. Plan on making a lot of them. The more mistakes you make, the more you learn & grow, and the more success you will have.
  • Focus– Making a decision on what you want, and focusing on that decision, brings unseen powers into effect, helping to create the best possible outcome. Lack of focus creates lack of finishing.
  • Action versus Reaction– In order for you to direct your life to the biggest extent possible, you must make your decisions based on action, not reaction. Reaction puts the other person in charge. Thinking, then acting, keeps you in charge.
  • Understanding the value of people– Not enough can be said about surrounding yourself with a winning team, people that will support you and build you up during your journey, rather than tear you down. Choose your friends and workmates carefully. Lift and be lifted.
  • Leverage– Search for options that bring a higher return than what you put in.  Look for one-to-many opportunities, things that are duplicatable, and systems & processes that automate what can be done. Time is your most valuable resource. Determine how you can get 5 hours worth of productivity out of 1 hour of effort.
We all have the opportunity to create an uncommon life. Are we willing to sacrifice the good for the great?
